Erika Wendt, nee Vogel, was an extraordinary woman - as devoted and dedicated as a wife, mother and friend as a true human
being can be.
She lived up to standards her late husband Traugott ('Trust God') and her considered the norm rather than the exception - starting with a long courting period and a very happy loving and fulfilling and decades lasting marriage.
I was blessed to become a friend to her family. She was a wonderful educator without being patronising, she simply led by example in so many ways.
She was extremely gifted in numerous artistic ways, and she was a true Mistress of the House - every Advent I wish I could even bake a fraction of the varieties of patisserie she selflessly baked and created for endless numbers of guests, and she made it look like it was no effort at all.
She had the gift to listen and to simply be there for those, who needed her advice or expertise.
Her family and friends, incl. her late husband's parish were right at the
centre of her heart.
Her faith was as strong as it was simple - trust in the one good God and the mystery of his peace will follow.
I am celebrating her life and give thanks for her friendship and that of her family. She certainly lives on in our hearts as one of God's righteous, humble and saintly women on earth.
Now she is united with her beloved husband Traugott, and together they shine their light of hope as part of those bright stars of true love and friendship.
Angels they were. And will be. Erika Wendt left a simple message: 'The future of the soul is only beginning. But only for those, who repent their sinning.'
