ReplyDeleteThe churches might think that they have enough power to undermine and sabotage inquiries and investigations indefinitely, or long enough to enforce their usual silencing procedures and tactics of slander, intimidation and denial for the victims to give up. That is a very shortsighted view, as with numerous witness accounts emerging from all corners of the world, the churches as institutional perpetrators are on the line. To the point that it becomes from top to bottom a collective liability without Deniability to cover up organised criminality and especially psychological, spiritual and sexual

soon be seen as being complicit in crimes against humanity on a scale that makes popes, cardinals, arch/bishops, and clergy and laiety look like dangerous associations in joint enterprise. Staying silent on abuse and other crimes is facilitating crime. Full stop.
