A rocky bumpy road to the truth, Prosecution and Compensation for Victims of the Churches,

It is clear that the true dimension of CSA in the churches is only emerging and that victims/survivors, 

who so far made it through the process of exposing the perpetrators had a rocky road with initially no contact partners in the churches. 

It is always only through independent external organisations, who then put pressure on the churches to meet up with the victims that steps are made towards prosecution, compensation and wider consequences for the way abuse is being dealt with. 

It is shameful that the churches have been and are so slow to take responsibility. 

I am not sure that a press conference in this format, where the church is again in control of the process, is the right way.

 The members of the podium should not be the ones, who decide about what is heard and presented. Also, they should not be the ones deciding, which press contacts are being conveyed to the victim. 

There are a lot of alibi events going on right now, as the churches have realised they can no

longer stay silent and silence the victims. 

One has to be seen now as proactive but it feels like a baby step process, not one that makes tabula rasa in every church in lightspeed.

It's a long way from putting their houses in order across every border. 

Investigations and inquiries should be run by independent panels, and a national and international list of contacts be compiled and made available. 

I am still also expecting the law community to stand up visibly on behalf of the victims and to make it a thing of the past to assist perpetrators and their institutions in cover ups and silencing and slandering strategies.
